Calculated columns are computed at refresh and stored in the model; measures are computed at query time in the current filter context and are usually preferred.
Why is a star schema recommended in Power BI?
Fact tables linked to dimension tables give simpler DAX, better compression and faster queries than flat or snowflaked models.
What does CALCULATE do?
It evaluates an expression in a modified filter context and triggers context transition when used inside row context.
Import vs DirectQuery?
Import loads data into the in-memory engine for speed; DirectQuery queries the source live for freshness or very large data, at the cost of performance and some DAX limits.
What is query folding?
Power Query pushing transformation steps back to the source as a native query, which makes refreshes faster and enables incremental refresh.
